Mike Chance, president of Chance Rides Manufacturing, Inc., on April 19, 2016. His mother, Marjorie “Marj” Chance, played a key role in starting the nursing program at Newman University.

Marguerite “Marge” Finn, on March 22, 2016. Marge was the wife of former Newman University Board Member John Finn.

John J. Murphy, Ph.D., on Jan. 18, 2016. John was an adjunct professor who taught in the Newman University MBA program for several years.

’49, ’58 Jeanne Lobmeyer Cardenas, on April 24, 2016, from Parkinson’s disease. Baptized Alfrieda Theresa Lohmeyer, she taught 32 years at Newman and was named professor emerita of English and Communication. Jeanne was an Adorer (she took the name Sister Mary Jeanne) from 1951 to 1969, wife of Michael Pena Cardenas for 41 years, author, painter, photographer, quilter, creator of the Newman Vantage and feature writer for The Wichita Eagle/Beacon. She received the 1971 Kansas Press Women Sweepstakes Award, the 1993 Newman Faculty
