Newman University Athletics has four dynamic new coaches leading the Jets in 2023-24.

Victor Domingues, the third head coach for men’s soccer, brings a blend of tactical brilliance and intensity to the team. Domingues aims to revamp the squad’s defense while adding flair to the attack. His track record of transforming teams, including a stint at University of Texas Permian Basin, sets the stage for a new era in Newman men’s soccer.

In women’s basketball, Amy Briggs takes charge with a stellar record as an assistant at Truman State, where she helped secure a spot in the NCAA DII Midwest Regional. She is the fifth head coach in the Jets’ NCAA DII era. Briggs’ commitment to student-athlete well-being promises a holistic approach to success.

Lon Flippo is steering both men’s and women’s golf. He served six years as head coach of North Central University’s men’s team. With accolades like earning conference  coach of the year, Flippo intends to build holistic athletes who excel in both golf and life. His plans to engage the Newman alumni community to offer a promising future for the men’s and women’s teams.

Lastly, Newman ventures into the digital realm with Kurt McDonald, the first-ever head coach of Newman esports program. A veteran gamer with plans to launch Rocket League and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, McDonald’s vision goes beyond games; he aims to offer students an alternative avenue for school pride and educational support.
