’03 Josh Chilson, J.D., has been elected to the Florida Bar Board of Governors. He will serve a two-year term representing about 4,000 lawyers in Pinellas and Pasco Counties.

’03 George Newton is a substitute teacher in the Putnam City School District in Oklahoma City, Okla.

’05 Brenda Keeler is director of development for StepStone and Dear Neighbor Ministries in Wichita.

’08 Wanda Jacques is an elementary bookkeeper/ accountant at Maize South Elementary School in Maize, Kan.

’10 Amber Pyatt is the director of nursing at Southwestern College, Wichita.

’11 Melissa Winter Gillenwater was named Outstanding New Teacher of the Year for the Diocese of Wichita. Melissa teaches at Christ The King Catholic School.

Obituaries

’36 Evarista Durler, ASC, on Dec. 12, 2015. A professed Adorer for 82 years, she graduated from St. John’s Academy and attended Sacred Heart College. She was 99.

’37 Bernetta Sigg, ASC, on Nov. 25, 2015. She taught English at Sacred Heart College for more than 15 years, and wrote poetry, especially haiku. She was a professed Adorer for 80 years, and died at age 99.

’44 Lillian Stecklein, ASC, on Aug. 23, 2015. She was a professed Adorer for 74 years, and died at 91.

Alan Shepherd, on Aug. 22, 2015. Shepherd coached women’s soccer at Newman from 2001- 2004.

Linda Unrein, on Feb. 14, 2016. As manager of telecommunications at Newman for many years Unrein was the “Voice of Newman University.”

Rose Therese Bahr, ASC, on Feb. 18, 2016. Sister Rose Therese served as
a Newman professor of nursing, academic dean of clinical nursing, and most recently, four-term member of the Newman Board of Trustees.
