Spring 2011 Season Highlights
Men’s Golf
The Men’s Golf Team won its first-ever Heartland Conference championship with a 14-stroke win over St. Edward’s University in Round Rock, Texas. Senior Noah Smithson earned medalist honors at the event, finishing as the top individual in the tournament. Smithson and teammate Ed Herzog each were named to the All-Heartland Conference team, while Herzog went on to earn Second Team Academic All-District honors.
Softball
The Jets Softball Team advanced to the Heartland Conference championship tournament for the first time in the program’s history after a program-best fourth place finish in the always tough Heartland Conference. Senior Emily Zimmerman earned First Team All Heartland Conference honors, and was named the Heartland Conference Co-Newcomer of the Year. Freshman Sarah Fipps earned Second Team All-Heartland Conference accolades.
Women’s Tennis
Laryssa Ferreira went undefeated in Heartland Conference play at the No. 1 Singles position for the second-straight season. Ferreira went on to conclude her collegiate career with Heartland Conference Player of the Year accolades, and First Team Academic All-District honors. She was joined on the All-Heartland Conference list by freshman Hillary Hicks.
