Twenty-five priests of the Diocese of Wichita attended a luncheon hosted by Newman University in February 2014. During the luncheon priests had the opportunity to get to know more about the university and plans for future facilities upgrades.

The Most Rev. Carl A. Kemme was ordained the 11th bishop of the Diocese of Wichita on May 1. On May 9, Bishop Kemme celebrated Baccalaureate Mass and delivered the homily during his first visit to Newman University.
