On Sept. 2, 2010, close to 30 Sacred Heart Academy alumnae sent cards and messages to mark the 91st birthday of a woman remembered by many as the teacher who made them walk with books on their heads.
Newman University Professor of Chemistry David Shubert, Ph.D. has recently signed a contract with Cengage Learning, a global provider of teaching, learning and research solutions, to produce an electronic textbook designed to make the study of organic chemistry more engaging – and perhaps entertaining – for college students.
Sister Thomasine retired from Newman late last year after close to 50 years of service.
Newman University has again been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for its exemplary service to America’s communities. The inclusion of Newman on the 2010 Honor Roll comes two years after the university was recognized in the 2008 list.
