The center of the Newman campus, Sacred Heart Hall, is in the midst of celebrating 100 years. The oldest building on university grounds was being constructed a century ago and on Sept. 12, 1922, the community marked a special occasion — the laying of the structure’s cornerstone. Sacred Heart was dedicated nine months later on June 24, 1923. The building is more than just a structure; it has served as a home and constant presence throughout every stage of Newman University’s history.

Pierre Harter '19 had the right degrees for a career as an engineer in the aviation industry, having earned two aerospace engineering degrees.

Moving an entire university solely online in the middle of a semester came as a bit of a shock for most of the world. Newman was not alone in having to adapt to a completely new workflow in order to teach students through an online format in March 2020.

Kathleen S. Jagger, Ph.D., MPH, was appointed the 12th president of Newman University in July 2020.
